Our Mission
Plenty of people have written lists of LA's best breakfast burritos. As far as I can tell, nobody had gone and eaten all of them, in person, and put them in an order they were willing to defend. So I did that, and I am still doing it.
There is no formula and no crowdsourced average. I go, I order, I eat the whole thing, I write it down, and the burrito lands where it lands. If you think yours is ranked too low, tell me. Arguing about this is most of the fun.
The Methodology
Every burrito is judged first on Overall Deliciousness, which is exactly what it sounds like. Then on Value, which is one question: does the size and the quality justify what you just paid?
Each review also records what you need in order to go: how big it is, what is inside it, what arrives on the side, and where the place actually is.

Visit Policy
Every review starts with a real visit. I order and eat the burrito before it goes on the list. Restaurant pages show when I first visited and when I most recently went back, so you can see how fresh a review is.
Burritos change. Restaurants swap chefs, cut portions, raise prices. When something changes enough to matter I go back, and the rating and the rank move to match.
How the Rankings Work
Rank follows deliciousness, and it moves whenever a new visit earns it. The list is not finished and probably never will be.
This whole thing started as a spreadsheet I kept for myself, one row per burrito, long before it was a website. It is still up if you want to see where this came from, but it has not been updated in years and the rankings there are wrong. Everything current lives here.

Whenever I eat a new one. A single review can move everything below it, so the order shifts as I go rather than on a schedule.
Three things. It has to be in greater Los Angeles, it has to be available at breakfast, and it has to be either sold as a breakfast burrito or built like one. Pop-ups and trucks count, as long as they keep a regular schedule.
I check them and update them as they change. Value is scored on price against portion, so a real price increase can move a rating on its own.
I embed photos from each restaurant's own Instagram, partly so the burrito is shown the way they want it shown and partly because my own food photography is bad. When a place has no Instagram, no usable photo, or embedding switched off, the review runs without one.
Yes, and Instagram is the fastest way to send one. Neighborhood places that nobody writes about are the ones I most want to hear about. I cannot get to all of them, but I read every message.
